Phoenix, AZ – Tangible
Tanning, the Valley's leading mega-tanning salon, is
bringing the community together in cooperation with local artists to
raise donations for Cyndi Conaster, who has Budd-Chiari Syndrome (BCS)
.
Budd-Chiari Syndrome (BCS) is a rare
illness that causes an obstruction of the venous blood flow in the
liver. In order to survive she must receive a transplant within two
years. Since the illness is so uncommon, it is not fully recognized by
many insurance companies and private funds must be raised to pay for
the life saving procedure.
This syndrome hits close to home for
the owners of Tangible Tanning Salon in Phoenix. Owners, Chris
Scheimann (brother) and Linda Bobst (mother), organized the event to
support Cyndi Conaster's struggle with the disease. She will be present
to share their appreciation for the art community's support.
Additionally, local artists specializing in contemporary,
impressionistic, and surrealism and other genres will all be offering
their work for view and for sale. This is an ongoing event at the Tangible Tanning Phoenix location.
“Since I was diagnosed with
Budd-Chari Syndrome, I have known there are others like me who need a
way to raise large sums of money to pay for the only way to save our
lives – a liver transplant”, Cyndi Conaster says.
“That's why we decided to create this art walk for the benefit of
others like myself. Art is a passion of mine and I see it as an aspect
of human expression which conveys a sense of hope and encouragement in
all of us.”
According to the National Donor
Network, there are more than 1,000 individuals in Arizona waiting for a
life saving transplant. With the help of community members
participating in this exciting Art event, Cyndi, and those like her,
have more resources to battle the illness. This is important because a
recent issue of the Medical Journal Of Hematology notes
those with Budd-Chiari syndrome “who receive a liver transplant
have a 95 percent chance of survival.”
Tangible Tanning Salon and the
Phoenix art community will offer 25%-100% of all proceeds to Cyndi
Conatser. Individuals may also visit any Bank of America branch and
make a donation to the Cyndi Conatser savings account number #
4687329061 .
